The players at the opening ceremony

Between the 23rd and 25th of November, the first Hong Kong Shuttlecock Open was held in the Shek Kip Mei Parks Sports Center. During three days, more than 150 athletes from all over the world played no less than 366 matches ! No doubt Hong Kong’s smooth organization will be a source of inspiration for the 2019 World Cup that will happen in France.

But what is the link with France Plumfoot, would you ask ? Well, three players from France have participated in the event : Trang (Women Single), Etienne and Thomas (Men Single, Men Double and Men Team Event). Overall, we can be proud of our players as Trang ranked 3rd, Etienne 4th in Men Single, and Thomas and Etienne 7th in the Team Event – helped of course by the fantastic Chung (and his smashes) who kindly accepted to join the team for the occasion. So thank you Chung, the French shuttlecock players definitely owe you.

Apart from these sportives aspects, every effort was made to help our French players feel at home in Hong Kong. The organizers were kind enough to let Thomas talk about the coming World Cup during the Opening ceremony. The photographer and the journalists that were invited also enable our players to come back from Hong Kong with many souvenirs.

For all these reasons, our players are very grateful to the Hong Kong Shuttlecock players and the organizing team. Most important of all : to them, this event was a way to make new friends from overseas. And through these developing friendships, it is the shuttlecock community as a whole that grows stronger throughout the world !

Thank you so much, Hong Kong Shuttlecock Association. We do hope we will see many of you both at the French Open in April, and at the World Cup in August !

Du 23 au 25 novembre, le premier Open de Plumfoot de Hong Kong s’est déroulé au centre sportif de Shek Kip Mei. Pendant trois jours, plus de 150 athlètes venus du monde entier se sont affrontés pendant pas moins de 366 matchs. Sans aucun doute, l’organisation fluide de cette compétition inspirera la France pour la Coupe du monde de 2019.

Mais quel est le lien entre cela et France Plumfoot demanderez-vous ? Eh bien trois joueurs français ont participé à cet Open : Trang (en simple féminin), Etienne et Thomas (simple masculin, double masculin, triple masculin). Nous pouvons être fiers d’eux : Trang s’est classée 3e, Etienne 4e au simple, et Thomas et Etienne 7e au triple. Ils ont bien sûr été aidés par le fantastique Chung et ses incroyables smatchs, qui a accepté de rejoindre l’équipe à cette occasion. Merci à toi, les joueurs français te doivent une fière chandelle !

A côté de ces aspects sportifs, tout a été fait pour que les français se sentent chez eux à Hong Kong. Les organisateurs ont ainsi proposé à Thomas de parler de la Coupe du monde 2019 lors de la cérémonie d’ouverture. Les photographes et journalistes invités auront aussi permis à nos joueurs de revenir avec de nombreux souvenirs.

Pour toutes ces raisons, nous remercions avec beaucoup de gratitude les joueurs et les organisateurs de l’association de Plumfoot de Hong Kong. Plus que tout, cet événement a permis à nos français de nouer des amitiés à travers les continents, et à travers cela, c’est la communauté de la plume dans son ensemble qui en sort grandie et renforcée !
